During my visit at La Palma, in the summer of 2004, I decided to get a diver's license (image to the left). I started off with PADI Open Water, and immediately after that I did the PADI Advanced Open Water.

Back in Sweden, I decided to get my own equipment. I ended up with the following package:

This equipment is fully functional in the cold (0-2 °C) waters of Sweden during the winter. Diving in the murky and cold waters of the Baltic Sea (eastern coast of Sweden) is very different from a warm, laid-back, 50 m visibility dive in the Canary Islands. Up here, one can expect around 5 m visibility at the most, and you will most likely need a light for dives deeper than 15 m. These factors change many things, e.g. loss of orientation during decent/ascent (dive computer needed) and higher demands on thermal insulation. Due to the very thick undergarments, I need around 12 kg of lead for neutral buoyancy. However, it (the undergarments) has never failed to keep me warm.

The biggest attraction is wreck-diving, since there is usually not much else to see.
