M97 - planetary nebula in Ursa Major

Authors: Jakob Selbing, Magnus Nyborg
Object: M97 - planetary nebula in Ursa Major
Exposure: 19 x 240 s(= 80 min), manually guided
Equipment: MX5-C through Meade LX200 at f/4.6 (with Meade f/3.3 reducer).

Comment: The Owl nebula is a faint planetary nebula, that's considered to be pretty hard to get good images of. Personally, I think this image is good. The nebula could use some higher S/N, but that isn't easy to get. I have decreased the blue channel, to bring out the other colors of the nebula. Notice the red outer shell.
